Controversy

By 1971, the singer was called to join in HISPAVOX, who was responsible for bringing to market to Jeanette. By this time the singer had sustained a small career as a leading voice of Pic-Nic.

It is there where Manuel Alejandro presents the lyric and a version of this to Jeanette. It was rumored to Jeanette that the song had been composed for a Mexican singer. But despite that the artist did not agree at first to record the song. Jeanette said she liked the lyric and sound, but it was not according to her personality that she had acquired in his former band. After entering reasons, Jeanette acceded to record “Soy Rebelde” . Neither, she or her label foretold the success of the song.

“Soy rebelde” was an enormous success in sales and was in favor more of one long season in the first places like one of the requested songs in 1971. HISPAVOX published the subject in more than twenty countries. These versions strongly echoed in French, Japanese and English. Her label reunited Jeanette's singles was recording of 1971 to 1973 in her first album Palabras, promesas.

The song begins with an entrance between piano and sad violin, soon makes its entrance the voice of the singer, who narrates the history to us of a totally solitary person. At the outset it relates a life marked by the pain soon to concentrate itself in the search of the happiness, friendship and love.

Albert Pla

An early version was performed by Albert Pla, a Catalan singer-songwriter who in 1997 made an irreverent version of the theme on his album Veintegenarios.[1] Also in that year, the singer sang the song in the film "Airbag".

Attaque 77

In late 1998 Attaque 77, premiere "Otras canciones", album with which the Argentine group manages to sell 20 000 copies in 10 days. This album includes a version of "Soy rebelde".[2] with their style lighter than punk rock, typical of the group. Also included in Trapos,[3] a live album.

Other versions

Notable versions of this song, as did Fernando Caro[6] which in 2007 presented his debut album "Rebelde" where his style, makes it a tribute to the subject. The beat is pure flamenco, halftime shows a kind of Rap. Another dedicated Spanish flamenco singer Pastora Soler, who with India Martinez, had a duet,[7] in 2007. There are parts that are originally very submissive in the voices of Jeanette, but in this new version, the duo stresses them. Nathalie Cardone[8] shows a sweet side to her voice, serving notice that "Soy rebelde" can be in two stages, by the early 70's as the end of the last decade (2000 to 2009). The sound is entirely based on guitar.
